Carl W. Sierzega

Carl W. Sierzega, 84, husband of Ida (DePietropaolo) Sierzega, of Royersford, PA, passed away on Friday morning, November 20, 2015 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born on February 22, 1931 in Phoenixville, he was a son of the late Antoinette (Joyuska) and Joseph Sierzega. Carl served in the United States Marines Corps. during the Korean War, where he was a rifle marksman. He was employed with the United States Postal Service for over 27 years, having worked in the Royersford Post Office and later retiring from the Limerick Post Office. Carl enjoyed bowling, golf, baseball in his later years. As a freshman, he was a member of the 1946 Phoenixville High School bowling championship team. He received Jr. Legion Battering Honors, posting a .446 batting average and was a member of the 1958 French Creek Baseball Championship team. He also enjoyed puzzles and trips to the casinos, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Sierzega is survived by daughters: Connie Ann, wife of Scott G. Hagy, of Douglassville, Theresa M. Gilmore, of Stevens, and Joan P. Amstutz of West Chester; son: Kenneth F. Sierzega, husband of Sandy Shinn, of Vienna, VA; grandchildren, Kimberly, Bryan, Matthew, Johnny, Ryan, Rachel, Anthony and Megan; sister: Rosie LaSpada of Philadelphia; and brother, Raymond Sierzega of Phoenixville. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Diane S., wife of John B. Ware, of Berwyn; son, Joseph C. Sierzega; and siblings: Leo Sierzega, Blanche Dinkle, Helen Purcell, Josephine Lantzy, Nellie Magyar, Thaddeus Sierzega, Rita Kraynak, and Edward Sierzega. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Walnut Street and Lewis Road, Royersford, on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 10:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Peter J. DiMaria. Interment will follow in the Fernwood Cemetery, Royersford. Friends will be received from 8:30 - 9:40 am Wednesday at the Church.
