Charles W. Engle

Charles W. "Cheezy" Engle, age 71, husband of Marylouise E. (Dunyak) Engle of East Vincent, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 in the Paoli Hospital. Born on January 21, 1952, in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late Lillian M. (Siepmann) Engle and Charles D. Engle. A Class of 1972 graduate of Spring-Ford High School, Charles began his employment at the age of 11 delivering newspapers before working at Allen's Variety in Royersford. He then was employed at B.F. Goodrich in Oaks, Nelson's Ice Cream in Royersford, Bentley Harris in Lionville and ultimately retired from Davlyn Manufacturing in Spring City in 2020. Charles was a train enthusiast who used to have an extensive train layout in his basement. He learned to build from his father and could be found working on home repairs but oftentimes building garden baskets or wishing wells. He was an avid bowler and pool shark, who spent a lot of time at the former Banker's Bar shooting pool. Charles was a huge Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, served as a judge for the former Modern Miss Pageants and had a great love for all animals, especially dogs. Most importantly, Charles loved traveling and evenings out to dinner with his beloved wife. In addition to his loving wife of 34 years, Charles is survived by siblings: Barbara (Jack Collopy) Kelsch, John (Terri) Engle and Elizabeth (Ernest) Johnson; nine nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog: Murphy. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother: Elise Engle. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Chris Czuchra. Interment will follow in the St. Ann Cemetery, Phoenixville. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
