Darryl E. Vinson

Darryl E. Vinson, age 60, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Kindred Hospital, Havertown, PA, after battling a short illness. Born in Durham, NC, he was a son of Virginia L. Vinson and the late William J. Vinson Sr. Darryl was a graduate of Phoenixville Area High School, class of 1981, and he went on to complete cosmetology school. Darryl was a cosmetologist turned barber, and owner/operator of My Daddy's Place Barber Shop in Phoenixville for many years. He also held positions at the West Company and Acme. Darryl also worked at the French Creek Alternative School as a support staff member, and in the janitorial department for the Phoenixville Area School District. Darryl was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he sang in the men's choir. He was also a founding member of Phoenixville Area Positive Alternatives, P.A.P.A. Because of his passion for sports and giving back to the community, Darryl was a basketball and football coach at PMYC for close to 30 years. He was a passionate Philadelphia Eagles fan, talented artist who enjoyed drawing, and a member of the No Escape flag football team. Darryl was a gentle giant who put others before himself. Above all else, he loved spending time with his children, who brought him the greatest joy. In addition to his mother, Darryl is survived by four children, Dominique Frank-Vinson, Ezekiel Frank-Vinson, Joshua Vinson, and Niles Vinson; three grandchildren, Galaxy Pitts, Darius Buris Jr., and Devonte Vaughn; former wife, Denise Frank; four siblings, William Vinson Jr. (Rosalind), Lisa Vinson-Young (Kirby), Pamela Vinson, Angela Delaware (James); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Bethel Baptist Church, 412 Fairview Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 11:00 am. Burial will be held privately. Friends will be received from 9:00 am - 11:00 am Thursday in the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Darryl Vinson Memorial Fund, c/o Phoenixville Federal Bank & Trust, 120 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
