Gregory W. Kelly

Gregory W. Kelly, resident of Newtown Square, PA and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at home. Born in Ambler, PA, he was a son of the late Edward and Rose (Scanlan) Kelly. Mr. Kelly was a graduate of Ambler High School and LaSalle University. He served in the United States Marine Corps. Along with his brothers, he owned and operated many franchised automobile dealerships and real estate properties in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Florida. Mr. Kelly was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. He was also a member of the White Manor Country Club, the Plymouth Country Club, the Ponte Vedra Country Club, and was previously a member of the Saucon Valley Country Club. A great athlete, Mr. Kelly loved golfing, was a thoroughbred horse owner and breeder, who along with Edward J. Kelly Jr. and Michael Kelly, were the breeders of the 2000 Belmont Stakes winning horse Commendable, and was an avid bird watcher. Mr. Kelly is survived by five children, Geoffrey S., husband of Kelley Kelly of Lancaster, PA, Stephen P., husband of Brenda Kelly of West Chester, PA, Elizabeth Kelly-Veltri, wife of Tom Veltri of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Courtney J. Kelly of Arlington, VA, and Patrick C. Kelly of New York, NY; two brothers, Edward J. Kelly, Jr. of Palm Beach, FL and Robert P. Kelly of Bethlehem, PA; three granddaughters, Katherine Kelly, Bridget Kelly, and Kristin Veltri. Mr. Kelly was preceded in death by one daughter, Kristin Kelly. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass at St. Basil the Great R.C. Church, 2300 Kimberton Road, Kimberton, PA on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 10:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Gary T. Pacitti. Burial will be held in the West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA. Friends will be received at the church from 9:30 am - 10:00 am Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Greystone Manor Therapeutic Riding Center, P.O. Box 10724, Lancaster, PA 17605.
