J. KAREN GRIFFIN, 67 of Phoenixville. J. KAREN GRIFFIN, 67 of Phoenixville, loving wife of 40 years to William R. Griffin of Phoenixville, passed away on Friday, January 29th, 2016 at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. Born on February 5, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas C. and Edith M. (Ward) Flint. She was a graduate of Temple University High School, Class of 1967. She attended the Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Medical Technology and the Montgomery County Community College. In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by her sons, Patrick M and wife Nicole of Stowe, PA, Matthew D. of Phoenixville, her two grandchildren, Natalie K. and Liam P,, both of Stowe, as well as her sisters in law Virginia Evens of Delray, FL, Jean (Jack) Connor of Broomall, Kate Hogan of Reading, Dorothy Griffin of Honey Brook, Sandy Griffin of Honey Brook, Nancy (Tom) Jarrett of Malvern, and her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Betty Ward in 1997. Karen was a longtime, dedicated and decorated member of the Boy Scouts of America; of which she joined alongside her sons in 1987; and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, Wood Badge Beads, and the District Award of Merit. In addition, Karen was a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow with Octoraro Lodge 22, of which she served as a Lodge Trustee for many years. She further served her community as a volunteer firefighter and paramedic with several different fire companies and ambulance squads since 1974. Karen was a humble leader in the community, including serving as Secretary, Vice President, President and Membership Secretary of the Kimberton Fire Company and Training Coordinator for Gilbertsville Area Community Ambulance Service. Karen shared a deep love for many things, including her dog Jack, her beloved Night Traveler at Camp Horseshoe, crafting, all things Celtic, but most importantly, her grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at 11:00 am, at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville. Officiating will be the Deacon George Harmansky. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken.
