James Eugene Lafferty

James E. Lafferty, age 85, husband of Marilyn A. Lafferty of Royersford, PA, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born on May 18, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Albert F. and Rosemary A. Lafferty. Mr. Lafferty was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, PA. He was co-owner of LaFern Industrial Company, which specialized in industrial machinery repair. Mr. Lafferty honorably served in the United States Army. He greatly enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, hunting and all things outdoors. He was also a knowledgeable, active, and beloved member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he served as a Coxswain and Qualifications Examiner on the water and supported the active-duty Coast Guard weekly at Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia. Jim also taught boating safety to auxiliarists and recreational boaters and served at the Search and Rescue Detachment in Wilmington, DE and Marcus Hook, PA. Mr. Lafferty worked at equestrian stables while in high school, and he remained very active in the equestrian world throughout his life. He volunteered much of his time at Sebastian Riding Associates in Collegeville, PA, helping provide therapeutic riding services. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lafferty is survived by three children, Patricia Lafferty, Daniel Lafferty, and Margaret Schaefer; three grandchildren, Kayleigh, Rheyce, and Bryan; one brother, Eugene J., husband of Anne Lafferty; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Lafferty. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, Pennsylvania on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Mr. Alan Lindsay, an Auxiliarist who served with Mr. Lafferty. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the funeral home on Monday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Sebastian Riding Associates, 3589 Water Street Road, Collegeville, PA 19426, to The Seeing Eye, P.O.
