Obituary

Mary Ellen Bonenberger, age 82, a resident of Spring City, PA for over 50 years, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born on May 29, 1940, in Pottsville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Albert J. and Anna (Sczerba) Krusznoski, Minersville, PA.

Mary Ellen was a graduate of Nativity High School in Pottsville, and she attended the Pottsville Nursing School. She retired after a lengthy career working as an independent insurance medical examiner.

Mary had many interests throughout her life. She was an avid reader of medical books and adventurous fiction novels. She enjoyed completing crossword puzzles. After leaving the coal regions to raise her family, she took great satisfaction in her home on Ridge Road in East Vincent Township, but she also enjoyed trips back to Minersville to reminisce and remain connected with friends and family.

Mary also loved music, lilacs, and watching cooking shows. She took great pride in her appearance and independence. She enjoyed joy rides, popping in to visit her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends for a cup of coffee and conversation. Always dressed to perfection, Mary was a quintessential fashionista obvious by her on trend style and love of silver jewelry.

Mary absolutely loved her fur companion, Gracie, a dachshund that brought her much love and contentment over the past 14 years. They were inseparable. She had a love of dogs and always had fur companions in her life. Daisy, a dachshund was by her side for many years prior to Gracie.

Mary is survived by her fur companion Gracie and six children, Donna A., wife of James Develin of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Harold F., husband of Karen Bonenberger of Pottstown, PA, William F., husband of Trica Bonenberger of Pottstown, PA, Cindy L., wife of John Bassett, of Bordentown, NJ, Tara L., wife of Dennis Parkinson of Montgomeryville, PA, and Amanda M. Sydor of Reading, PA. She is survived by thirteen grandchildren, Nichole (Matt) Shustack, James (Jenny) Develin, Christopher (Amanda) Bonenberger, Lauren (Daniel) Culhane, Andrew (Devon) Bonenberger, Melissa (Jordan) Stierly, Annie (Doug) Wang, Eric (Victoria) Bonenberger, John Elliot Bassett, Codi Parkinson, Brianna Parkinson, Michael Sydor III and Nicholas Sydor and 20 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
