Menyus A. Bogyos, 85, husband of Margaret (Piskai) Bogyos, of Phoenixville, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2008 , in the Paoli Hospital .? Born in Phoenixville, he was a son of the late Menyh?rt and Maria (Aztalos) Bogyos.? ? Mr. Bogyos was a 1941 graduate of Phoenixville High School .? He served in the U.S. Army from January 1943 to December 1945 during World War II, in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, as a Corporal and 20mm Gunner on ships for 33 months overseas.? He was awarded the Medal of Good Conduct, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with three Bronze Campaign Stars, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with One Campaign Bronze tar, and the Victory Ribbon.? Also received were Badges for Marksman of the 03 Cal. Carbine Rifle and the 03 Rifle, and the Presidential Citation Ribbon and Medals.? Mr. Bogyos was a member of the Phoenix Lodge #75 F&AM, the Commandery of the Knights Templar of Phoenixville, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Spring City Forest No. 34, and the Phoenixville Masonic Square Club.? He was also a member of the Hungarian American Citizen's Club, past President of the First Hungarian Reform Sick Benefit Lodge, past President for two years of the Phoenixville Golden Age Club, the Phoenixville AARP #713 as second Vice President, the Phoenixville Senior Adult Activity Center, The Phoenixville Moose Lodge #1273, the Phoenixville VFW Post No. 1564, the Lower Pottsgrove Sportsman's Association, and the National Rifleman's Association.? Mr. Bogyos was employed at the former Phoenixville Iron and Steel Company for over 28 years until his March 1977 retirement when the structural department was closed.? He was also a vivid outdoorsman, gardener, hunter, fisherman, and winemaker.? In addition to his loving wife of 57 years, Mr. Bogyos is survived by son Robert T. Bogyos of Limerick , two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and niece Linda Plunkett.? Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Parkside U.C.C., Main Street at Third Avenue , on Thursday, July 10, 2008 , at 11 AM .? Officiating will be the Reverends Judy and Stan Miller.? Interment will follow in the Morris Cemetery .? Friends may call from 7-9 PM Wednesday, with a Masonic Service at 8 PM , at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Main Street at Fifth Avenue , and from 10-10:45 AM Thursday at the Church.?
