Robert Franklin Stoudt Sr.

Robert Franklin Stoudt, Sr., age 94, died peacefully Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Pottstown Hospital. He was born July 7, 1926 in Pottstown to the late Russell and Sadie (Grill) Stoudt of Limerick. He lived in Limerick until the age of eight, when he moved to Red Hill to live with his aunt and uncle, Alice and Morris Brey, who owned Brey’s Restaurant. Robert attended Pennsburg High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball. He later received certificates of completed courses in Metals at the Technical Institute of Temple University. He was a member of the American Society of Metals. Robert served as a scout in the United States Army in Europe during World War II (1944- 1946). After his military service, Robert worked in the Metallurgy Department as a senior lab technician at Superior Tube Company in Collegeville. He worked there for 48 years, retiring in 1991. Robert married Betty Moll of Red Hill in 1947; they were married for 44 years, until her death in 1992. While living in Red Hill, Robert served on the Borough Water Authority. Robert and Betty moved to Collegeville in 1979. At the time of his death, Robert was a resident of Manatawny Manor in Pottstown. Robert enjoyed playing tennis and golf, ballroom dancing, bowling and, in later years, going to yard sales and auctions with his brother Richard and nephew Barry. He also liked to search his property for arrowheads. Robert is survived by his son Robert Stoudt, Jr. (wife Dena) of Memphis, TN, daughter Rebecca Stoudt of Plymouth, MA, grandsons Blake Boone (wife Heather) of Phoenixville, PA and Kyle Swensson of Cambridge, MA, granddaughter Brooke Boone of Asheville, NC and great-granddaughter Aurora Boone of Phoenixville. He was predeceased by his wife Betty, daughters Roberta Stoudt and Renée Stoudt Boone, granddaughter Lindsey Preston, his sisters Jacqueline McLaughlin, Hannah Yeager and Theonella Stoudt and brothers Theodore and Richard Stoudt. Robert became a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in May 1947. Interment will be in the Church cemetery. Due to COVID-19 precautions, services for Robert will be private.
