Cynthia “Cindy” M. Kulp
August 1, 1950 - November 19, 2019
Cynthia “Cindy” M. Kulp (née Loughin), 69, of York, PA, peacefully passed away on the evening of Tuesday, November 19, 2019 due to complications of COPD. Cindy was the loving wife of Richard I. Kulp for 50 years, and together they raised three sons. They first met when they rode a roller coaster together; she was in fourth grade and he was in sixth grade. Richard remembers getting sick, and Cindy remembers that well, as it ended up in her lap. Years later, she and Rich went snowmobiling on their first official date, and the rest is history. It needs to be said that Cindy’s smile could light up a room. Equally, her sideways glances could hush a room. She wasn’t expected to live at birth due to a heart condition, and therefore was carried around on a pillow, just like a princess. She was spirited, snarky, and oh so sweet. Cindy played the saxophone and at one point could throw and catch a football better than Richard! She hated seafood and peanut butter. She ADORED her family and loved to dote on her seven grandchildren. She loved making crafts: Thanksgiving candy turkeys and Christmas reindeer ornaments always graced the family table. Without fail, advent calendars were mailed to her grandchildren every year. Recently, Cindy had taken up paper crafting, and made exquisite cards and flowers for all those she loved. Cindy loved her home church, Coventry Church of the Brethren. In fact, Cindy and Richard were married there. (As were Richard’s parents, Samuel and June, and Cindy and Richard’s son, Steve and his wife, Jenna.) For a time, Cindy was the youth club leader and enjoyed semi-torturing her sons with that every Wednesday night. In addition to her husband, Richard, Cindy is survived by her children, Mark A. (wife Mary), Matthew B. (wife Kimberly), and Stephen T. (wife Jenna), and seven grandchildren, Ryder, Maycie, Carly, Jonah, Alice, Annie, and Faith. She is also survived by three of her siblings, Randy, Patsy, and Gary. A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 11th at 11am at the Coventry Church of the Brethren. The address is 946 Keen Road, Pottstown, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cindy’s honor to: COPD Foundation online: https://www.copdfoundation.org/Take-Action/Donate/Donate-Now.aspx or mailed to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce De Leon Blvd, Miami, FL 33134 or to the Coventry Church of the Brethren online: https://www.coventrycob.org/donate.html or mailed to Coventry Church of the Brethren, 946 Keen Road, Pottstown, PA 19465
