Donald Edward Fredericks, age 87, loving husband of the late Dolores "Babs" Fredericks, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Seasons Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 16, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the Frank & Gertrude (Vernon) Fredericks. Mr. Fredericks graduated from Northeast High School in Philadelphia in 1950 and was then employed by the Franz Equipment Company as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. In 1953 he enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War and proudly served as an Engineman Second Class Petty Officer until he was honorably discharged in 1957. He was stationed in Key West, Florida and Little Creek, Virginia. He would go on to acquire a job with General Electric as a Test Engineer where he worked on major projects such as the Gemini Spacecraft Re-entry Program, the Mars Observer and played a critical role in the launching of GPS Satellites. He attending college at night and eventually earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Temple University. After retiring, he assumed his greatest role as “Pop Pop” and the Chief of “Pool Club” where he took great joy in entertaining friends and family, mostly by having a plentiful supply of Freezy Pops for the kids. Mr. Fredericks was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend to all and he will be missed by many. Mr. Fredericks is survived by his two daughters, Lynn D. O'Brien and her husband Dennis, and Vicki E. Fredericks; One son, David Fredericks; and their Mother, Peggy J. Fredericks; Four step children, Lynn Macbeth, Bruce MacBeth and his wife Kim, Sandra Macbeth, and Andrew Macbeth and his wife Angela; Four sisters, Hannah Winberg, Frances McDonald, June Condran, and Dorothy Parkinson and her husband Walter; One brother, Frank Fredericks; Fourteen grandchildren, Danielle Bursk, Kristi Wolf, David O'Brien, Autumn Barker, Julia Engel, Claire Speer, Brandon MacBeth, Drew MacBeth, Zachary Scholze, Barney Kelly, Toby Kelly, Morgan MacBeth, Alexander MacBeth and Stephanie Buda; Mr. Fredericks was also survived by his eleven beloved great grandchildren, Josie, Tyler, Harrison, Hayden, Rosalee, George, Allen, Travis, Evan, Scarlett, and Luke. In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Harriet Rauch. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation for Mr. Fredericks on Sunday December 8, 2019 from 10:00AM 11:00AM at the Campbell Ennis Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc, 610 South Main Street, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. A memorial service will follow the calling time at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery privately at the convenience of the family.
