Elizabeth "Betsy" Bradburn-Assoian, age 68, of Wayne, Pennsylvania, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2023, surrounded by devoted family. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, she was raised in Branford and New Haven, Connecticut, educated at The Foote School and Hopkins School (both of New Haven) and Yale (B.A.) and Brown (M.A.T.) Universities. She taught high school English in New York City public and private schools, but her acumen for the English language soon led to a distinguished career at Newsweek magazine where she rose to become Associate Editor, responsible for the business section, in the heyday of print journalism.

After more than 10 years, Elizabeth left Newsweek to concentrate on her family. Yet, she still managed to teach part-time in her local school district, free-lance edit, and start a small ESL tutoring business. She adored classical music and was an accomplished pianist and flutist. Elizabeth was also devoted to her faith. As a long-standing member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Wayne, Pennsylvania, she regularly played flute with the choir and taught in the church school for more than 15 years.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Richard "Rick" Assoian, son, Jonathan Assoian, sister, Carol Ann Bradburn Celella (Scott), brother, H. Benjamin Bradburn (Lisa), two sisters from her father's second marriage, Charlotte Bradburn and Sophie Bradburn (Angelo Ricarte), stepmother Ann Hoefer, and many brothers- and sisters-in law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents Mary Virginia Meadows Bradburn and Hubert Benjamin Bradburn.

A memorial service and interment will be held at the Washington Memorial Chapel, Route 23 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elizabeth's memory would be welcome at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 104 Louella Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087 or the Washington Memorial Chapel, P.O.
