James Richard Casselberry

James (Jim) Richard Casselberry, age 85, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2020. Born on December 26, 1934, in Phoenixville, PA, he was the beloved son of the late James Wesley Casselberry and Emma Bader Logan Casselberry. In his early years he worked for the Phoenixville School District as Head of Maintenance and Busing, but later joined his Father, building and restoring homes. Many of those homes continue to grace the Phoenixville area and stand as a testament to their love of creating family homes. He was meticulous in his craft and loved working with his hands. Later in life he retired to help care for his parents whom he loved dearly. Jim enjoyed woodworking which included building and restoring furniture at his home on Casselberry Lane. His family is blessed with many of the beautiful pieces he worked on over the years. In addition to woodworking, Jim enjoyed riding his Father’s tractor, as well as many of his own, and could be found every weekend at Casselberry Lane cutting the grass. In his earlier years he spent many hours outside shooting skeet, driving golf balls down to his parents home, fly fishing with his son, and hunting with his brother Bob. He was always surrounded by pets, having loved them all like his children. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. This past summer he spent many weekends at this daughter’s home with family and friends. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading mystery books accompanied by his favorite Bourbon, Buffalo Trace. Jim is survived by his sister, Ruth Ann Sholtz (Yucca Valley, CA) and his brother, Robert L. Casselberry (Holland, PA) two children whom he loved very much, Jennifer Casselberry Kluge and husband Fred (Phoenixville), and James R. Casselberry Jr. and wife Deborah (Boalsburg, PA). He also leaves behind three grandchildren, James Knise, husband of Erica, Elisabeth Knise, companion of Mike, and Lauren Casselberry, wife of Li, as well as three great – grandchildren, Nicholas Knise, Sawyer Knise, and Dru Casselberry – all of whom he adored. He will be missed terribly but leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and love that will live on forever in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Janice, and his sister, Jane Brownlee. Services are private. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent United Church of Christ - P. O.
