Joseph DiCandilo

September 16, 1946 - April 18, 2022

Joseph DiCandilo, age 75, husband of Fay A. (Bernhard) DiCandilo, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage, of Pottstown, PA, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Nazareth Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. Born on September 16, 1946 in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, he was a son of Dominic Anthony and Edna Helen (Toro) DiCandilo. Pastor DiCandilo was a graduate of Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, MN, and received his Masters degree from Central Theological Seminary in Minneapolis, MN. He was the founding Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Pottstown in 1972, serving until 1996. Currently, he and his wife are faithful members of Valley Forge Baptist in Collegeville, PA. True to his Pastoral spirit, Pastor DiCandilo often could be found helping others, and performing acts of service for the better good. He loved helping and chatting with people, and making new friends and connections. As a recipient of a liver transplant in 2010, he lived his life to the fullest. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2017. He enjoyed studying Italian, cooking Italian food, and playing the accordion. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, as well as the family dogs. In addition to his wife, Mr. DiCandilo enjoyed a large family, Elizabeth F. DiCandilo of North Bergen, NJ, Jonathan E., husband of Dawn DiCandilo of Rockville, MD, Rebecca J. DiCandilo of Coimbra, Portugal, Joel A., husband of Shannon DiCandilo of Phoenixville, PA, and Jeremy J., husband of Erin DiCandilo of Arnold, MD; seven grandchildren, Sophia, Anthony, Georgia, Lily, Gordon, Wil, and August; three brothers, Tony, husband of Chris and nephew, Mark DiCandilo, Jerry, husband of Cheryl DiCandilo, niece Sarah and nephew, Brian and Mike DiCandilo. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral ceremony at Valley Forge Baptist Temple, 616 S. Trappe Road, Collegeville, PA on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 10:30 am. Officiating will be Rev. Scott E. Wendal. Burial will be held in the Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA. Friends will be received from 9:00 am - 10:15 am Monday at the Church.
