Robert H. Heyser, age 91, husband of 60 years to the late Edith Y. Heyser of Phoenixville, PA, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021. Born January 23, 1930 in Phoenixville, PA. He was the son of the late Wilber A. and Isabel H. Heyser. Preceded in death by sister, Jane Heyser Werner, Beaufort, SC, and brother, Wilber A. Heyser, Jr. of Phoenixville, PA. Survived by children, Steven Heyser, Phoenixville and Jane, wife of Scott Jones, Earleville, MD. Granddaughter’s: Naomi Siedlecki, fiance of Brian Tell, Perkiomenville, PA; Jillian, wife of John Maha, Phoenixville; and Kristin, wife of William Mackey, Jr., Medford Lakes, NJ. Great-Grandchildren: Hayden and Landen Siedlecki; Adelyn, Avery and Ara Maha; and Greyson and Karston Mackey. Mr. Heyser graduated from Phoenixville High School, Class of 1947 and Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA in 1951 with a BA majoring in Economics and Political Science. He was a member of Delta Pi Sigma Fraternity. Robert enlisted in the Army as a private in 1951 and was commissioned OCS in 1952 with his first detail in Yokohama, Japan. May of 1953 became H/H Co. Commander of the 314 ORD Group in Korea; active duty. He was honorably discharged December 1953, then reverted to inactive status with USAR CONT and was assigned to the 312th Ordnance Group and the 312th Support Group, Norristown, PA. He was promoted to LtC in 1970. He graduated from the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS in 1972. In 1975 he assumed command of the 328th Service Detachment, USAR Center, Norristown, PA. He was retired from the Reserves in 1980 and was awarded for 45 years of service. Robert was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Reserve Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorous Unit Citation and Expert Badge-Rifle and Pistol and American Defense Service Medal. Mr. Heyser spent most his career as a State Farm Agent on Gay Street in Phoenixville. In addition, he also served: ROA Valley Forge Chapter, PA; Former VP Army; Charlestown United Methodist Church: Charge Lay Leader, President of the Administrative Board, Trustee, Treasurer and Church School Teacher; Phoenixville YMCA: Board of Directors, VP for six years, Personnel Committee, Ground Acquisition Committee, Outreach Committee and Membership Committee; National Association of Life Underwriters; Northern Chester County United Fund, Finance Division Chairman; Phoenixville Chamber of Commerce; Member of the East Pikeland Township Zoning and Hearing Board, Committeeman for ten years, and Auditor; Served on the Chester County Republican Committee for ten years; Co-Chairman of the Phoenixville Library Building Fund Committee; and lifelong supporter of Boy Scouts of America, Camp Horseshoe. He also served as Commander of the America’s Boating Club, Valley Forge, and earned the grade of Navigator (_N_), the highest obtainable grade and an accomplished celestial navigator. Bob also taught numerous courses including the Piloting Course. Bob traveled through Asia and Southern Europe. His favorite travel stories included climbing the Leaning Tower of Pisa and sailing through the Suez Canal. Later with wife Edee, they sailed through the Panama Canal, traveled the trans-continental rail across Canada then toured the US National Park System. In Bob’s spare time he enjoyed sailing his boat “Remedy”, playing tennis, swimming and hiking.
