Agnes Irene (Poole) Crawford, age, 91, went to be with the Lord on Friday afternoon, August 15th, 2008 in the Parkhouse Providence Pointe, Upper Providence, PA.? She was born, July 20th, 1917 in Galax, VA to Tincey Ellen (Hampton) and Lewis Boyd Poole.? She married Olen Clarence Crawford on July 10, 1933 in Elkton, MD.? He died in June, 1985.? Prior to her admission to the Parkhouse in 2001, she had lived on Valley Park Road in Valley Forge since 1956.? She lived in the Phoenixville area from 1951-1956; Downingtown area 1946-1951; Newtown Square and Broomall areas from the late 1930's to 1946, and the Westtown / West Chester area in the early 1930's.?
Mrs. Crawford had worked at the former Midgley General Store and Midgely Fuels in Valley Forge, the former Gruber Knitting Mill in Phoenixville, and the lunch counter at the former W.T. Grant store in Phoenixville.? She had also been employed at Colt Industries in Frazer, PA, Middleton Cigar Co of King of Prussia, and the G-Lodge Caf? at Valley Forge.?
She was a long time member of the Valley Forge Baptist Church and was active for many years in the Golden Rule Class and the Missionary Circle of the Church.?
One of her biggest joys over the years was having all of her family at her house for a big dinner on Thanksgiving Day.?
She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends in the Valley Forge, Phoenixville and West Chester areas.?
Mrs. Crawford is survived by four children:? Dr. Charles O. Sr. (Ruth) Crawford, of State College, PA; A. Virginia (Ronald) Wanamaker of Schwenksville; Walter L. "Scotty" (companion Bridgett Kendall) of Pottstown, PA; and Ellen M. (Michael) Stefanski of Sturgis, MI, twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.? Also surviving is one brother, George D. (Gloria) Poole of Parkesburg, PA as well as many nieces and nephews.? Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband , were four brothers, Wayne H., R. Eugene, John P., and Walter M., Poole, and a sister, Ina R. Stanley.? Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Campbell - Ennis - Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 at 11:00 AM.? Officiating will be the Rev. James P. Bracelin.? Burial will be in the Valley Forge Baptist Church Cemetery, Valley Forge, PA.? Friends will be received Tuesday evening from 7-8:30PM, or on Wednesday, from 10-11AM, at the funeral home.?
