Aleen (Coddington) Nyland, 89, wife of the late Bruce W. Nyland, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Arbor View at Willow Valley Retirement Community. Born in Middleton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ira L. and Bertha (Cole) Coddington.

Mrs. Nyland was the 1941 Valedictorian of Middleton High School and attended New York University in Albany where she studied French. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Malvern, where she was involved with many committees and volunteered in the library for 14 years. She was also a former member of the First Baptist Church of Lancaster and for over 10 years volunteered and served on the board of directors at Bryn Mawr Rehab.

Mrs. Nyland is survived by her children, Michael W. Nyland, of Nicholson, PA and Barbara, wife of Terry Caden, of York, PA; two grandchildren, Dianna Summers and Brian Caden; and two great grandchildren; Kami and Noah Summers.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Aleen's name to the American Heart Association, P.O.
