Alice (Eaches) Basista, 94, of Birsdboro, PA, formerly of Ludwig's Corner, the Poconos and Freeland, died on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Garden Spot Assisted Living Center, New Holland, PA. She was the wife of the late Lyle McDonald and late Joseph Basista.
Alice was born on her parent's family farm in Chester County, a daughter of the late Lewis C. and Sara (Bennett) Eaches. She was a 1932 graduate of West Chester High School. During World War II, she worked at Jacobs Aircraft Plant, Pottstown, PA. Mrs. Basista was the oldest living member of Nantmeal United Methodist Church. She was also actively involved in several civic organizations in the Hazelton area.
She is survived by two daughters: Sara "Sally", wife of the late John Kerrigan, of Langhorne, PA, and Patsy, wife of Gerald Hines, of Birdsboro; two sons: Terry Deputy, husband of the late Jean Ann Deputy, of Pottstown and Lewis E. Deputy, husband of Betty Jane Deputy, of Chester Springs; thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Basista was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lila Alice McDonald; a grandson, Jeffrey Todd Frame, and sister Bessie (Eaches) Yocum.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at Nantmeal U.M.C., 359 Nantmeal Road, Glenmoore, PA 19343. Officiating will be Rev. Eric D. Ressler. Burial will follow in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Ludwig's Corner. Calling time is on Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the church.
