Amelia Kirk, 19, cherished daughter of Monica A. (nee Sarmousakis) and Lawrence P., born May 15, 1998 and passed into eternal life on November 29, 2017 at home in Phoenixville, PA.

Amelia was a beautiful, highly intelligent, selfless human being. She was feisty and outspoken and would do anything for anyone. She always lit up the room with her smile and sense of humor even while struggling with her demons. She had the biggest heart on the planet. She opened her heart to anyone who entered her life and gave unconditionally of her life, love, time and resources. She will be missed forever. She never defined herself only by her illness, a substance use disorder with which she tremendously fought and suffered. She struggled every moment of every day with courage, dignity and bravery to create a life and to be free of this insidious disease. Amelia often felt unaccepted and didn’t know where she fit. She was a beautiful soul in constant pain.


Those who hurt her know who they are. Please have some level of self-awareness so that you may learn from this. She needed unconditional love and peace, which she has now found.

Amelia wanted everyone to always be kind and to have others treat everyone as they wished to be treated. Life is short. Her mother told her that she was loved without condition, not judged, that she was the bravest and strongest person and that she was proud of her, every single day. Very few could have walked a day in her shoes.

Amelia is also survived by her brothers, Sam, 15, Andrew, 10, her beloved cats, Mittens and Monkey, her grandparents, Mary Sarmousakis, Angelina Kirk, Joan Meade and Paul Sarmousakis, loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and a group of loving friends.

Relatives and close friends are invited to attend her funeral mass at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 50 West Walker Road, Wayne, on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:00 am. Officiating will be the Rev. Stephen A. Moerman. Friends will be received from 9:00 - 10:00 am at the Church.
