Barbara (Babs) A. Sutherland, age 83, originally from Wayne, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born on October 18, 1939 in Bryn Mawr, PA, she was a daughter of the late Chris and Edith (Barr) Pirmann.
Barbara was a 1960 graduate of Radnor High School, where she was a proud Radnor Raider and a talented field hockey player.
She worked for many years at Dom's Luncheonette in Wayne, where she was well known for her sandwich making abilities. She also worked for Stafford Cleaners. Barbara then worked in the cafeteria for Wyeth Laboratories in Radnor, before she would continue within the company at the Sunbrook Conference Center, where she would retire from.
During the 1950s and 1960s, Barbara enjoyed roller-skating at the Berwyn Roller Rink, and sock hop with Dick Clark. She was an avid bowler, loved playing bingo, and was a proud thrift shop visitor and garage sale attender.
Barbara was a strong, caring, and dedicated woman who had a playfully ornery side as well. Even with that side of spice, she was accepting and thoughtful of others, always putting them before herself. She took pride in all she did. Her dedication as a daughter, friend and mother is unmatched.
During the 1970s and 1980s, she volunteered for the Radnor Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. More recently, she was an active volunteer at the Phoenixville Hospital Thrift Shop.
Barbara is survived by one daughter, Dawn Marie, wife of Robert Steelman; and her beloved grand fur-babies, CVO (CBO), Florence, Rebel, Bear, Ruger, and Hunter.
She is also survived by her honorary grandchildren: Blake, Cole, Brooke, Madison, Natalie & Blaise, who will forever be loved by Mom Mom.
