Barbara R. (Ruoss) Young, age 98, wife of the late Ernest Young, of York, PA, formerly of Spring City, PA, and Holt, MO, died early Sunday morning, February 20, 2011 in the Resthaven Nursing Home, York, PA. Born in Chester County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Yoder) Ruoss. She worked for over 18 years at the former Gerber Knitting Mill in Spring City. Mrs. Young was known as the matriarch of her entire large extended family. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family. She was also a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Limerick.

Mrs. Young is survived by six children; Mary (Robert) Parke, of FL, Irene (Hartwell) Bowers, of Covington, PA, Sarah (Arthur) Barrette, of MO, Iona Bartlow, of Pottstown, PA, Catherine Seifrit, of York, PA, Joseph (Deanne) Seifrit, of Elverson, PA, six step-children; Lorraine (James) Bender, of Pittsburgh, PA, Laura (Harry) McKelvey, of VA, Larry (Bridget) Young, of CA, Leonard Young, of Royersford, PA, Steven Young, of York, PA, Ernest Young, III, of Covington, PA, twenty-six grandchildren, forty-nine great-grandchildren, twenty-one great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Young was pre-deceased by nine siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Robeson Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3529 Plow Road, Mohnton, PA 19540 on Friday morning, February 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael W. Ware. Burial will be in the Robeson "Plowville" Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7:00 - 8:30 PM Thursday evening at the Cattermole - klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA, or from 10:00 - 11:00 AM Friday morning at the Church.
