Bengt Å Nestell

Bengt Å Nestell, age 81, husband of Connie Jane Ames, of Warwick Township, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 in the Tel Hai Retirement Community. Born on February 17, 1941 in Malmö, Sweden, he was a son of the late Carl Gösta and Karin Birgit (Sterner) Nestell. Bengt is a graduate of Lund University in Sweden, as well as the ArtCenter College of Design in California. He was employed as the Director of Design and Engineering for Silverton Yacht, and most recently as an industrial product project manager for Henry Dreyfus Associates. In addition to his work with those companies, he also founded his own engineering firm, International Industrial Design (i2d), contracting with many well-known and large businesses. He held a number of patents for products that he designed for companies such as John Deere, Becton Dickinson and Gambro AB. Bengt was a faithful member of Coventryville United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He had a great sense of humor and loved to entertain family and friends. Bengt had an extensive collection of miniature classic cars which he treasured. And, as an avid reader, he had a vast collection of automotive and yachting magazines, brochures, and pamphlets. Bengt was a member of the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce, the American Society of Swedish Engineers and the American Swedish Historical Museum in Philadelphia. In addition to his wife Connie, Bengt is survived by three children, Pontus Nestell, Oscar Nestell (Lauren Banks Amos), and Celia Nestell (Mark Johannessen); two granddaughters, Emma and Sofia Nestell; one brother, Patrik Nestell; one nephew, Fredrik Nestell (Karin); and his brother-in law and sister-in-law Thomas and Holly Ames. He was preceded in death by one sister, Monica Sandström. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at the Coventryville United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Ridge Road, Pottstown, PA on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Stacey Jones-Anderson. Burial will be held privately. Friends will be received from 10:00 am - 11:00 am Friday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Coventryville United Methodist Church at the address above.
