Bernice C. (Given) Sullivan, age 86, of Phoenixville, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in Seasons Hospice. Born on January 18, 1935 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Lucy (Pashley) and Francis Given.
A graduate of St. Boniface Business School, Bernice grew up and spent most of her life in Philadelphia working in payroll, until she moved to Phoenixville fifteen years ago, to be closer to her family. She was an avid reader, enjoying mysteries, especially James Patterson novels. She was a crime TV show junkie, enjoyed going out to lunch with family and friends, listened to country music and had a great time attending several 92.5 summer country series concerts at the Camden Waterfront.
Most importantly, family was a huge part of Bernice's life. After moving to Phoenixville, she enjoyed time spent visiting her sisters in Philadelphia and trips with them to the casinos. She loved attending and supporting her granddaughters' sports and activities and being able to be a part of their lives.
Bernice is survived by her daughter Lori, wife of Dan Horgan, of Phoenixville; granddaughters Shannon, Taylor, Carlee, Courtney and Mandie Horgan; and sisters Lorraine Mulligan and Ethel Given, both of Philadelphia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Howard Sullivan, Jr. and siblings Buddy Given, Jack Given and Joan Walls.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bernice's name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023, https://www.diabetes.org/donate.
