Obituary

Betty Rivera, age 73, wife of the late Thomas Rivera Jr., of Spring City, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at home. Born on October 8, 1950 in Manhattan, NY, she was a daughter of the late Juan and Modesta (Rodriguez) Aponte.

Mrs. Rivera was a graduate of St. Lucy's School in New York. Her main priority was caring for her family as a loving homemaker, but she did hold several positions throughout the years. She worked at the Colonnade Senior Living Community in Schwenskville as well as at Ross in Limerick. Primarily, however, she focused much of her attention to her volunteerism efforts. She was a faithful member of the Royersford Church of the Nazarene, where she kept herself involved with most reaches of the church. She also served on the Board of Directors of Illumination Community Outreach. She was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, and she had a love of angels, candles, and Betty Boop, for whom she was named.

In addition to her companion of six years, Amin N. Lewison, she is survived by four children, Lizette Rivera, wife of the late Charles Decker, Pastor Thomas Rivera III, husband of Claire, Daniel J. Rivera, husband of Tawana, and Steven T. Rivera, husband of Victoria; eight grandchildren and one on the way, Adrian (Sheila), Jonathan (Anais), Emily Rivera, Taina Rivera, Andrew Rivera, Arianna Rivera, Brielle Rivera, and Aiden Rivera; five great-grandchildren, Elisha, Abigail, Elias, Ivyelle, and Adrian; two brothers, Peter Verdejo and Nelson Aponte; and many niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by five siblings, Alicia Cruz, Esther Cantres, Johnny Aponte, Hilda Sanchez, and Esperanza Aponte.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Royersford Church of the Nazarene, 445 Washington Street, Royersford, PA on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Officiating will be Pastor Peter Clarke. Burial will follow in the Limerick Garden of Memories. Friends will be received from 8:30 AM-10:00 AM at the Church on Friday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to either the Royersford Church of the Nazarene or Illumination Community Outreach, both located at 445 Washington Street, Royersford, PA 19468. Arrangements are being handled by the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered online at www.RoyersfordFuneralHome.com.
