Betty M. (Irey) Shantz, age 89, wife of the late Henry E. Shantz, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016 in the Paoli Hospital. Born on December 6, 1926 in Phoenixville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Adolph and Bertha (Sims) Irey.

Mrs. Shantz was a member of the Pawling Independent Baptist Church in Phoenixville. She was a 1945 graduate of Spring City High School. She worked at the Phoenixville Hospital and retired after 31 years as an aide at the Pennhurst State Hospital. Mrs. Shantz loved being with her family, and enjoyed baking.

Mrs. Shantz is survived by one daughter, Kathleen M., wife of Paul Smith Jr. of Phoenixville, PA; one sister, Patricia Shantz; three grandchildren, David, husband of Tanya Smith of Phoenixville, PA, Paula, wife of Daniel Collins of Gilbertsville, PA, and Paul III, husband of Amy Smith of Lewisville, NC; four great-grandhcildren, Nicolas and Arielle Collins and Elise and Macy Smith; one cousin, Helen Norley; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Shantz was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Susan Marie Shantz; two brothers and one sister.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc, 610 South Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Rogers H. Bowyer, Jr. Burial will be held in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Spring City, PA. Friends will be received from 10:00 am - 11:00 am Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Pawling Independent Baptist Church, 400 Pawlings Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
