Bruce E. Fries Sr., age 79, husband of Mabel J. (Berkey) Fries, of Perkiomenville, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. Born on November 10, 1936 in Catasauqua, PA, he was a son of the late Russell and Frances (Lentz) Fries.
Mr. Fries was a graduate of Boyertown High School, class of 1954. He worked as a supervisor for Techalloy in Rahns, PA, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Limerick Chapel. Mr. Fries enjoyed gardening, woodworking, baking, and bird watching. A few things that were very important to him were his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and for his family. One of the things he enjoyed doing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren was making gingerbread houses with them, a tradition started over 20 years ago.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, Mr. Fries is survived by one son, Bruce E. Jr., husband of Michele Fries of Perkiomenville, PA; two daughters, Marcy, wife of Andy Coffman of Phoenixville, PA and Mindy, wife of David Nelson of Brandon, FL; one brother, Russel Jr., husband of the late Mary Fries; eight grandchildren, Janette, wife of Mark Meyers, Tim, husband of Kelly Fries, Kristen, wife of Ryan Hoover, Andrew, husband of Cheryl Coffman, Natalie, wife of Chris Abbott, Emily Coffman, David Jr., husband of Michelle Nelson, and Ashley, wife of Glenn Pernites; nine great-grandchildren, Haley and Lucas Meyers, Timmy, Danny, and Joey Fries, Serenity, Cole, and Dawson Nelson, and Josiah Pernites.
Mr. Fries was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Fries, husband of Kay, and Donald Fries; and one grandson, Tom Coffman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Limerick Chapel, 378 West Ridge Pike, Limerick, PA 19468 on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Peters. Burial will follow in the Limerick Garden of Memories. Friends will be received from 9:30 am - 10:45 am Saturday at the church.
