Carl Savage, 85, husband of Ellen E. (Frain) Savage, of North Coventry, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010, in the ManorCare Pottstown. Born in North Coventry Township, he was a son of the late Zenas M. and Edith Jane (Mumpher) Savage.
Mr. Savage was a graduate of the former North Coventry High School and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed as a rural postal carrier. A member of the Coventry Church of the Brethren, he recorded and edited the weekly Church broadcast on WPAZ for seventeen years. He loved photography and a couple of his photographs were published in a national magazine.
In addition to his loving wife of 53 years, Mr. Savage is survived by: two daughters, Norma wife of the late Geary Batastini of Glen Ridge, NJ, and Elizabeth Jane wife of Randy Deputy of Elverson; three sons, Bill Freas of North Coventry, Carl D. husband of Deborah Savage of North Coventry, and Zenas husband of Lisa Savage of Oley; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at the Coventry Church of the Brethren, South Keim Street and East Cedarville Road, Pottstown, on Thursday, November 18, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Sandford J. Christophel. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Carl's name to the Coventry Church of the Brethren, 946 Keen Road, Pottstown, PA 19465.
