Obituary

Caroline Christman Bady, age 86, of Audubon, PA, formerly of Larchmont, NY, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in the Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, East Norriton, PA. Daughter of Ann (Hanly) and W. Donald Christman, and wife of David M. Bady, she was born on November 26, 1937, in Manhattan, New York City.

After attending Oakwood Friends School in Poughkeepsie, NY, Caroline graduated from Oberlin College. and completed graduate training in early childhood education at the City University of New York. She began her career as a teacher for the New York City Board of Education, and after taking a decade off to raise her children, returned to the classroom, first in a community nursery school, then for the Archdiocese of New York Head Start Program, where she eventually became Assistant Educational Director for various centers in the Bronx. A later career change brought her to New York's Rockefeller University, where she served for many years as Secretary and Administrative Assistant at the Laboratory Animal Research Center.

She was an avid gardener, proud of her herbs, tomatoes, and flowers she grew every year. She savored living in Paris and London with her professor husband on academic assignment, and vigorously served as 1st Mate on boats they sailed into their late 70's.

Caroline was known for her wide smile. Joined with her strong will was an incredibly generous spirit, always with others in mind.

In addition to her loving husband of 61 years, Caroline is survived by two daughters, Jessica H. Bady, mother of Zachary D. and Jacob S. Kolda, and Susanna E. Bady, mother of Ramona C. and Alfred Z. Bady-Campbell. She was preceded in death by her sister Donna Christman.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Oakwood Friends School, 22 Spackenkill Road, Poughkeepsie, NY, from 12:00 - 2:00 pm in the Meeting Room and from 2:00 - 4:00 pm in the Dining Hall.
