Charles Owen (Chuck) Blue age 63 passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his home in Haverford, PA. Born July 15, 1946, Chuck was raised in Mechanicsburg, PA. He was a member of the class of 1964 at Mechanicsburg High School. He served in the Army in Germany, working as a Specialist 4 Laboratory Technician. After completing military service, he attended Temple University, where he graduated with a degree in Political Science. Chuck was employed by the Federal Government for more than thirty years, working for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the General Services Administration (GSA). He retired in 2002.
Chuck grew up in a small town where he loved playing baseball and playing in the high school band. In his later life, he considered Philadelphia his home. To his family he was the embodiment of brotherly love. He enjoyed great books, music, art, history, gardening and a political discussion whenever he could stir one up. He was an avid photographer and captured the beauty of many of our national parks and landmarks during his travels. Chuck was a lifelong Phillies fan and a fan of many fillies at Saratoga Springs, Philadelphia Park and Atlantic City.
He is survived by his mother, Doris H. Blue of Chester Springs, PA. One brother Gregory Blue. Two sisters, Catherine, wife of Robert Pelles, of Camp Hill, Virginia Blue, wife of Glenn Dalmas, of Mechanicsburg, and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Horace C. Blue and his much beloved cat Portia.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made to the American Red Cross, 2221 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
