Obituary

Charles H. (Charlie) Booraem, age 82, husband of Betty (Haage) Booraem, of Royersford, PA, formerly of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 in the Pottstown Hospital. Born on May 4, 1941 in Teaneck, NJ, he was the son of the late Elmer and Hermine (Tonjes) Booraem.

Charlie was a 1959 graduate of Teaneck High School. He went on to complete his undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at Lafayette College and received his master's degree in education from Lehigh University. After teaching physics for three years at Phoenixville High School, Charlie went on to a 30 year career as an electrical engineer at United Engineers & Constructors (now part of Raytheon) until retiring in 2000.

Charlie was an accomplished musician, playing the tuba in the Lukens Band (often clad in his German band lederhosen) and the Audubon Orchestra. He was a model train enthusiast, and he enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles. While his children were younger, he served as a scout leader and an umpire for KYAL.

Charlie and Betty enjoyed "traveling eventfully" and camping in their various RVs over the decades, often with their kids and grandkids in tow. Through the hundreds of thousands of miles traveling across the country, just about every trip encountered one mishap or another - often resolved with duct tape. Whatever the outcome, they always came home with a great story!

In addition to his wife of 59 years, Mr. Booraem is survived by five children, Glenn (Pam) Booraem, Edgar Gottshall, Scott (Jan) Booraem, Sumiko Booraem, and Heather (Jason) Harmon; eleven grandchildren, Jonathan and Caroline Booraem, Amanda, Piper, and Ryan Gottshall, Cindy (Matt) Felker, Alexia, and Julian Booraem, Shawna Baker (Lance Wycoff), Shannon (Justin) Grob, and Ian Harmon; six great-grandchildren, Ember Gottshall, Bentley Wycoff, Lincoln and Libby Grob, and Matthew and MacKenzie Felker; a sister, Joan (Chuck) Theal; two nephews, Christopher and Scott Theal; and two godsons, Richard and Andrew Bolinger.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at St. Peter's Pikeland United Church of Christ, 1193 Clover Mill Road, Chester Springs, PA on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Douglas Hanson. Burial will be held privately at a later date. Friends will be received from 9:30 AM-11:00 AM in the Church on Thursday morning.
