Obituary

Charles M. Henry Jr., age 74, husband of Lynne (Miller) Henry, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born on February 9, 1949 in Bryn Mawr Hospital, he was the only child of the late Ruth L. (Menagh) and Charles M. Henry Sr.

Charles received his B.S. in Accounting from Penn State University, where he met his future "Wifey", Lynne. He went on to become a Certified Public Accountant, retiring as a partner in 2014 from Morison Cogen LLP, Blue Bell, and continued consulting up until his passing.

During his professional career and even into his retirement, Charles was active in the Phoenixville community. Having grown up in town, he wanted to invest in the community that he loved so much. Over the years, he served as a former president of the Phoenixville Regional Chamber of Commerce, was an active volunteer with the Schuylkill River Heritage Center, was a current member and former board member of The Rotary Club of Phoenixville, and a current board member of the Phoenixville Public Library and the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation. Charles was instrumental in planning the annual Rotary Pancake Breakfast, for which he had been recently recognized by the Rotary District Governor for his years of dedicated service.

In his free time, Charles enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cycling, as well as spinning and working out at the Y. He had a special love for his "doggies," Sage and Amber. You could often find him sitting out back on his "veranda" watching nature and sunsets. Alaska was the epitome of his love of nature; he visited many times and it was always never enough. As a pinball fanatic, he collected, played, and repaired his six beloved pinball machines. In addition to pinball, Charles also enjoyed collecting Lionel trains, and was proud of his many displays. He also loved to attend cultural events, plays, and concerts.

Most importantly, Charles was a dedicated family man. Family meant everything to him, adoring his children, grandchildren, and even his "grand doggies". Friday nights were sacred and reserved for the grandkids. Saturdays and/or Sundays were always for "Sonny-Boy" renovating properties or other hands-on projects. Charles never knew a stranger, was smart, funny, and kind- leaving a lasting impression on anybody that met him.

In addition to his loving wife of 46 years, Charles is survived by two children: Melissa M., wife of Nathan Chendorain and Robert M. Henry, fiance' of Kristina Medina; and two grandchildren: Logan J. and Morgan R. Chendorain. He was preceded in death by a son: Charles M. Henry III.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11:00 am at Valley Forge Baptist, 616 S. Trappe Road, Collegeville. Officiating will be the Rev. Scott E. Wendal. Friends will be received from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Church.
