Charles F. Hookway, 88, of Pottstown, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2022. Born on December 5, 1933, in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Reuben H. and Mary A. (Yost) Hookway. He was the loving husband of the late June (Kimmey) Smith Hookway.

Charles was a 1951 graduate of Royersford High School.  Following graduation he honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his time in the service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Charles went on to work as a Machinist at Accumetrics until his retirement.

He was a faithful member of Parker Ford Church of the Brethren; where he served as an usher for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed helping others around his apartment. It was in his nature to make sure others were taken care of.  He enjoyed trips to Tennessee and many drives “up-country” with his wife. He was an avid sports fan and could be found rooting for The Eagles and The Phillies. Charles was also a member of the Spring City Legion where he had many friends.

He is survived by his children; Joyce E. Hookway-Irvin, wife of Keith, of Douglasville, Charles P. Hookway, husband of Kym, of North Coventry, brother; Raymond Hookway, of Phoenixville, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents Charles is preceded in death by his siblings; Reuben Hookway, Earl Hookway, Richard Hookway, Doris Crater, and Dorothy Tincher, and son; Webster Cornell Hookway.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 10am to 11am at Parker Ford Church of the Brethren. A funeral service will begin at 11am. Military honors and burial will take place in Limerick Garden of Memories on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 2pm.
