Obituary

Charles F. Klenk, age 98, husband of the late Eleanor M. (Paster) Klenk, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 in the Elm Terrace Gardens, Lansdale, PA. Born on March 1, 1925 in Phoenixville, PA, he was a son of the late Charles F. Sr. and Leila (Wilson) Klenk.

Mr. Klenk spent much of his childhood in Chester Spring before moving to Hall Street in Phoenixville. He attended Phoenixville High School before enlisting in the United States Army in 1943, having served and seen combat in Leyte, Philippines and Okinawa, Japan.

He met his wife of 74 years, Eleanor Paster, at J.J. Newberry's in Phoenixville, where she was a sales associate. They married in 1949 and moved to their lifelong residence on Lane Avenue in Phoenixville, where they raised their two loving daughters.

Mr. Klenk was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Phoenixville. He worked at The Phoenix Bridge Company until its closure, and then became a machinist at Synthane Corporation in Oaks, PA until his retirement in 1988.

In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and playing golf. He also enjoyed playing pinochle and poker with his friends and family. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles on TV. He also looked forward to the trips to the casino with his wife.

Mr. Klenk was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eleanor (Paster) Klenk on July 12, 2023, and by a brother, Robert Klenk.

He is survived by his two daughters, Gloria Klenk (Chip Warren) and Patricia (Joseph) Barber; two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor's name to St. John's United Church of Christ, 315 Gay Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
