Obituary

Charles Paul Michener, age 97, husband of the late Anna Elizabeth (Hallman) Michener, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020 in the Southeastern Veterans' Center, Spring City, PA. Born on April 18, 1922 in Heavnerville, PA, he was the only son of the late Charles A. and Cora (Kershner) Michener.
Mr. Michener, known as "Paul", was a graduate of Upper Merion High School and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. After 45 years he retired from the Hale Fire Pump Company in Conshohocken, PA, where he worked as a machinist and the machine shop superintendent. He was a member of Peace In Zion United Church of Christ, Zieglerville, PA serving there as Consistory president, choir member and as an Elder. Mr. Michener enjoyed reading his Bible, jigsaw puzzles, woodworking, tinkering in his shop, Gunsmoke reruns, and ice cream. Above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his family.
Mr. Michener is survived by two children, Paul C. "Mitch", husband of LeeAnn (Francis) Michener of Phoenixville, PA and Jill A., wife of Mark King Exley of Spring City, PA; eight grandchildren, Erin (Michener), wife of Thomas Martin of Maryland, Brian, husband of Laura (Bauers) Michener of Missouri, Scott Michener of Florida, Brett, husband of Tracy (Gibbs) Michener of New Jersey, Darren, husband of Alicia (Gallagher) Exley of Spring City, PA, Meredith Exley and Caryn Exley both of Wyomissing, PA, and Gayle (Exley), wife of Kevin Whaley of Coatesville, PA; nine great-grandchildren, Henry, Jacob, Ella, Sydney, Evan, Aya, Elle, Abigail and Amelia; and one daughter-in-law, Susan (Osborne) Michener. Mr. Michener was preceded in death by one son, Timothy D. Michener, and two sisters, Thelma Schatz, and Charlotte Bean.
