Charles H. "Chocky" Richards, Jr., 88, of Narvon, formerly of Chester Springs, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Zerbe Retirement Community Nursing Center. Born in Philadelphia on July 2, 1937, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Rae (Evans) Richards, Phoenixville. Chocky is survived by his wife of 71 years Lenore (Beener) Richards, son Charles Scott Richards (Sandy), daughter Deborah Hammond, brother-in-law Glenn O. Beener, Jr., several nieces, nephews and cousins, Michael Kopycienski (Clara) and former son-in-law Dan Hammond. He was predeceased by half sisters Eleanor DiPuia (Tony) and Betty Foulke (Jack), half brother Charles L. "Buss" Richards (Shirley), cousin Paul Roberts, in-laws Glenn O. and Elizabeth (Campbell) Beener, Sr., sister-in-law Betty (Arters) Beener and niece Ginger (Beener) Smith (Jim).
Chocky retired after 20 years as a long-distance truck driver for the Pillsbury Company, East Greenville. He worked previously for Kulp and Gordon Motor Freight, Jones Motor as a Safety Supervisor and Midwest Emery Freight. After retirement, Chocky ran his own lawn care business. For many years he enjoyed going to a cabin in Tioga County he shared with his partners, both to hunt and to relax with his family. Chocky liked to read western novels, especially those written by Louis L'Amour. He was a member of Linfield United Church of Christ and always a willing helper to those in need.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 10:30 a.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter United Church of Christ, 1920 Ridge Road, Pottstown, Pastor Peter Detterline officiating. Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508, Linfield United Church of Christ, 25 Reformed Road, Linfield, PA 19468 or to St. Peter United Church of Christ. The family wishes to thank the wonderful medical staff of Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital for their kindness and outstanding care during his recent stay.
