Charles R. Riggs, age 77, husband of the late Bonnie L. (Barnhart) Riggs of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Born on April 29, 1946, in Middletown, New York, he was a son of the late Mary E. (Holden) and Everett G. Riggs.
Charles served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and had later been employed in the aerospace division at General Electric in King of Prussia. In his retirement, he enjoyed delivering cars for Kulp Car Rental and still attended monthly breakfast with his former Kulp co-workers. He was a member of St. Aloysius Parish, Pottstown, and while living in Utica, NY, was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, lector, and an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion providing Communion to shut ins.
Charlie was an avid NY Mets fan and enjoyed attending his daughters' dance recitals and son and grandchildren sporting events. He also loved going to car shows with his grandson, JT, camping with family, vacation cruises with his wife, visiting museums and historical adventures, and talking politics.
Charlie is survived by his children: John, husband of Megan Riggs, of Pottstown, Stefanie, wife of James Muller, of Pottstown, and Sarah, wife of Brian Weil, of Pottstown; grandchildren: James (JT), Shane and Brooke; siblings: Dennis Riggs, Steve (the late Elsie) Riggs, Thomas (the late Patsy) Riggs, Eileen (Tony) Hall, Ruthann (Scott) Deyo, Margie (Dan) Short, and Bob (Lisa) Riggs; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his funeral mass on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Aloysius Church, Beech and Hanover Street, Pottstown, PA. Officiating will be the Rev. Joseph L. Maloney. Friends will be received from 10:00 - 10:45 am at the Church.
