Clara A. (Stuart) Matthews, 95, formerly of Oaks, PA and last of Sanatoga, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. She was the widow of Joseph F. Matthews.
She was born in Halifax, N.C. to the late Herman and Mary (Epps) Stuart. She was employed for many years as a waiter and server.
Clara was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Oaks, PA. She also was a member of the Phoenixville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Oaks Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and volunteer at Southeastern Veterans Center, Spring, City, PA.
Clara is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Shaner, wife of Carl, of Douglassville; two grandchildren: Karen Dieciedue and her husband Peter and Richard McIntyre ; one-great grandchild: Hailey McIntyre and one brother, Dewey Stuart, of Spring City, PA. She was preceded in death by siblings: Goldie, Hester, Frances, Patricia, Ray, Bailey and Marshall.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 126 Black Rock Rd, Oaks, PA 19456. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel K. Olsen. Calling time is from 9:00-9:45 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, PO Box 404, Oaks, PA 19456 or Black Rock Fire Company, 216 Bridge St, Mont Clare, PA 19453.
