Claudia Althea Wilson, 91, formerly of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Manatawny Manor. She was the widow of Granvil T. Wilson.
She was born in New York, NY to the late Vivian and Lillian (Van Putten) Richardson. She was a graduate of St. Phillip Nursing School, now part of Virginia Commonwealth University. Claudia served in the US Army as a registered nurse and earned the rank of Captain, before resigning her commission to marry her husband Granvil. She continued her work in nursing at the Valley Forge Army Hospital, Phoenixville Hospital, and Coatesville Veterans’ Hospital before retiring.
Claudia was a proud veteran, who also was involved in the Women’s War Memorial, in Washington D.C.
She is survived by her children: Claudia Aleta. Wilson, of Jeffersonville; Paul A. Wilson and wife Paula, of Phoenixville; Eugene A. Wilson, of Phoenixville; and Carl B. Wilson and wife Petra; of Phoenixville and Germany; sisters: Gloria Govia, widow of Kenneth, and Bernice Langford, widow of Sonny, both of New York, NY and grandchildren: Andrew, Gavin, Britta, Erik and Caleb. She was also preceded in death by siblings: Vivienne, Leslie and Vincent.
