Darwin O. Raysor, 94, of Pottstown, PA, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Southeastern Veterans Center, Spring City, PA. He was the husband of Opal J. (Hood) Raysor.
He was born in Linfield to the late Walter and Blanche (Schurr) Raysor. He was very active in high school athletics, earning the nickname “Flash” on the football field and competed in the Penn Relays. He was an Army MP stationed in Australia during World War II, where he met and married his wife. Upon returning home, he worked as a cooper at Kinsey Distillery in Linfield, PA until retiring. He continued to his love of youth sports into retirement where he could be found on the high school sideline with his beloved Irish Setter scouting and mentally coaching the team to victory.
In addition to his wife of sixty-nine years, he is survived by a daughter-in-law, Susan L., wife of the late Darrell Raysor, of Ambler; grandchildren: Rachel Beers and Lauren Franchetti; great-grandchildren: Jelena Mitric, Michael, John and Joseph Franchetti and several nieces.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington St., Royersford, PA. Calling time is from10-11 AM. Burial will be in Mt. ZionCemetery. Online condolences may beoffered at www.royersfordfuneralhome.com
