David Oliver Bechtel passed away on May 23, 2025, in his apartment in Phoenixville
Pennsylvania, he was 82 years old. David was the son of John Franklin and Esther
May Bechtel, he was born on August 21, 1942, in Pottstown, PA. His parents moved to
Bryn Mawr in 1953 where he graduated from Haverford Township High School in 1960.
After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and served for 4 years reaching the rank of
3 rd Class Petty Officer. He was assigned to the USS Vulcan.

While in the Navy he married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Goodes in 1961, they
had two children Barbara and Robert, he was a loving father to them. David and
Dorothy later divorced in 1981. Following their divorce David moved to Florida where
he later met Flora Baker, they were married April 1986 and remained married until her
death in May 2010. David returned to Pennsylvania in April 2024 and lived in the
Phoenixville area.

After leaving the Navy David had several jobs working at an Electronic Factory building
equipment meant for the USN, he then worked for his father at a Metal Finishing
Company that did work for NASA and then worked as a manager for Marriott Fast Food
Restaurants. When he moved to Florida he worked as a cook for a German Club in
Cape Coral and then as a manager for a Medical Equipment Company that provided
equipment to individual homes and hospitals. He also helped Flora with her Estate
Sales Business.

David is survived by his brother Donald Bechtel, his daughter Barbara Bechtel, his son
Robert Bechtel and three grandchildren Michelle, Anna, and Brittany, and one great
grandchild Ellie Olthoff.

David will be laid to rest next to his wife Flora on June 25, 2025,11:00 AM at the
Fairview Cemetery in Boyertown, PA. There will be a short graveside service with
