David J. Berkey, age 77, husband of Carol A. (Woodland) Berkey, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021 in Pottstown Hospital. Born on March 26, 1944 in Pottstown, he was a son of the late Bertha (Kulp) and Charles J. Berkey.

David was a 1963 graduate of Owen J. Roberts high school where he played football and baseball. Having been drafted, he honorably served in the United States Army from 1967 - 1969 during the Vietnam War and continued to be patriotic throughout his life. His love of sports continued, as David played softball up until the age of 49, for Limerick Chapel and the Pottstown Youth Center. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved telling deer hunting stories. He also had an immense love for antique cars, especially his street rod, a 1931 Model A and his rainbow colored truck, which he painted himself.

David was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Pottstown and read his Bible daily. He enjoyed gardening, working on his children's vehicles and taking care of his fishpond, which every Winter, he'd move 300 goldfish indoors and restock the pond in the Spring. David could do anything and fix anything. If he wasn't sure how, he'd find a way. He had a great love for his family, was always there for anyone who needed help. It was hard to go anywhere with him without bumping into someone that he didn't know.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Berkey is survived by his children: Brook A., wife of Jason Weidner, of Spring City, Farah L., wife of Sven Hannevig, of Spring City, David J. Jr., husband of Alicia Berkey, of Leola and Joshua T., husband of Cicely Berkey, of Akron; nine grandchildren; and siblings: Mabel Fries, Patricia Mahr, Charles Berkey Jr., Gloria Bauer, Bertha Brandt, Mary Keller and Debbie Coffman. He was preceded in death by a brother: Carl Berkey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be the Rev. James L. Spears. Private interment will follow in the Limerick Garden of Memories. Friends will be received from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made in David's name to PANFoundation.org that supports patients and caregiver with Parkinson's Disease.
