Obituary

David Duddy, age 70, of Rose Valley, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026 in the Riddle Memorial Hospital, Media, PA. Born on November 8, 1955 in Norristown, PA, he was a son of the late Gertrude M. (Bolger) and Joseph W. Duddy, Sr.

Duddy was a 59-year resident of the Community of Don Guanella. First living at the Don Guanella School beginning in 1967 before transitioning to the Cardinal Krol Center in 1977. He later moved to the community's group homes in Aston in 2015 and Rose Valley in 2023.

Duddy was full of personality and had a number of interests, including his #1 Philadelphia Phillies, followed closely by his love of the Eagles and Flyers. He could often be found "reppin" the Phillies with his ever-present baseball cap, a Phillies coat or some other Phillies attire.

Duddy was known to be a man of routine, "religiously" so, with a touch of stubbornness mixed in. This was especially seen in preparation for his 9 p.m. snack of a Coke and two pretzels, his nightly shower, and dressing for his daily activities. He loved watching the news, especially the weather report, evidenced by the fact that when asked to join in praying the rosary, he would not do so until after the weather report was finished.

Duddy was a man of faith and a devoted Catholic who loved attending Mass, especially when he could be one of the altar servers. He served Mass at Divine Providence Village, and his home parish of Sacred Heart Church in Royersford. He was a faithful and fervent prayer of the rosary joining with the other men in the home.
David will be deeply missed. He is survived by his sister Gertrude M. "Trudy" Ferenchak and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph "Joel" Duddy, Jr., Bernard Duddy, Terry Duddy, and John Duddy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial Mass in the Divine Providence Village Chapel, 686 Old Marple Road, Springfield, PA 19064 on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Weber. A time of visitation will take place in the chapel from 10:30 am - 11:00 am. The family requests those attending wear their favorite Phillies attire, if possible. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence, 20 E. Cleveland Avenue, Norwood, PA 19074. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family in St. Patrick Cemetery, Norristown, PA.

The family wishes to display their deep appreciation to David's care team who so exemplified, in their care and commitment to David. May he rest in peace. Amen!
