David S. Matey, age 52, husband of Coleen (Vesey) Matey, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in the Paoli Hospital. Born on January 28, 1969 in Norristown, PA, he was a son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Rathgeb) Matey.

Dave was a graduate of Archbishop Carroll High School, and received his Bachelor's degree from Ursinus College. He was an active member of the St. Basil R.C. Church in Kimberton. Family was the most important thing to him, and he loved spending time with his wife and daughters. He was active with his daughters sports through his coaching at Phoenixville lacrosse and CYO basketball, and also coached boys' varsity football at Visitation BVM.

Dave enjoyed music and movies, as well as playing the guitar. He cherished the time he spent poolside with his family, and he could never turn down a good Dewars scotch or cigar. With his competitive nature, he never turned down the opportunity to run the table at beer pong, and he was the commissioner of his fantasy football league, a league which he took very seriously.

In addition to his wife of 26 years, Mr. Matey is survived by four daughters, Meghan Elizabeth Matey of Columbus, OH, Rachel Maureen Matey of Harrisonburg, VA, Kellie Ann Matey of Newark, DE, and Mary Kathryn Matey of Phoenixville, PA; four brothers, Edward Matey, James Matey, Thomas Matey, and Stephen Matey; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass at St. Basil the Great R.C. Church, 2300 Kimberton Road, Kimberton, PA on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Gary T. Pacitti. Burial will follow in the Washington Memorial Chapel Churchyard, Valley Forge, PA. Friends will be received from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dave Matey Scholarship Fund, 104 Trotters Drive, Phoenixville, PA 19460, which will honor Dave's generous spirit by providing tuition assistance to deserving girls on the Archbishop Carroll girls' lacrosse team.
