Obituary

David McClellan O'Brien, age 37, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020. Born on May 2, 1982 in Jackson, Mississippi, he was a son of Dennis and Lynn O'Brien.

David attended Phoenixville High School and graduated with the class of 2000, shortly after graduation David would go on to enlist in the United States Navy and serve his country proudly for 6 years. After completing Basic Training at Naval Station Great Lakes, he trained as an Electronics Technician and Intelligence Specialist at Great Lakes and San Diego. Upon completion of his training he was assigned to the Combat Systems Engineering Development Site in Moorestown, New Jersey, where he earned and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal. He was then called to a special assignment in Iraq on the Coalition Military Assistant Training Team, a joint service force whose mission was to establish and train Iraqi Coastal Defense Forces. During this tour of duty, David earned the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. A subsequent assignment included a tour on the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) where he earned the Meritorious Unit Commendation and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

After concluding his service in the Navy, David entered the restaurant business and enjoyed working at several restaurants in the area.

David had a passion for animals and in his spare time he enjoyed dog sitting and spending time with his sister’s dogs, Hank and Otis. But most of all David enjoyed spending time with his family whenever he had the opportunity. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, and dear friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him and he will be missed by many.

In addition to his loving parents Lynn and Dennis, David is also survived by his grandmother, Peggy Fredericks; Two Sisters, Danielle (Justin) Bursk, and Kristi (Bob) Wolf; Four loving nieces and nephews, Josie & Tyler Bursk, and Hayden & Harrison Wolf; his aunt, Vicki Fredericks, and his uncle, David Fredericks.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation for David on Saturday February 29, 2020 from 1:00PM
3:00PM at the Campbell
