Dr. David Solomon, 57, passed away suddenly and tragically in Baltimore on October 20, 2016. He died two weeks after the passing of his beloved mother, Estelle B. Solomon, to whom he was lovingly and daily devoted, especially during her final months of life. He is also predeceased by his father, Dr. Macy B. Solomon, a Phoenixville physician for 40 years.

David earned a combined MD/PhD in 1990 through the exclusive Medical Scientist Training Program at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and City University of New York, having previously earned his BS in Chemistry from Haverford College in 1982. A member of the faculty and staff of Johns Hopkins University, he was a gifted and compassionate physician who will be deeply missed by his patients, his colleagues and the academic community to which he contributed. David was also a flame to his friends and family, one that burned sweetly and brightly during his lifetime, just as it will after his passing. In his unique and innocent way, he connected meaningfully and lovingly with people from all walks and he cherished the deep attachment he had with everyone in his life. His thoughtful and analytical mind, creativity and insatiable interest in people and things led him down many paths - from Zappa to neuroscience to Torah - learning, teaching and engaging the world with enthusiasm and passion. He loved music, especially his flute; he loved hiking and nature; and he loved sharing all of his interests with the people he cared about and, if possible, a dog… or three. Above all, David was limitlessly devoted to his three children, Sophie, Daniel and Jesse, around whom he built his life in every possible way and gave his love with a full heart and without measure.

David is survived by his wife, Claudia Summer of Providence RI, with whom he shared so many cherished moments and memories over the past 8 years. He also leaves behind an enduring friendship with the mother of his children, Debra Brodlie. He will leave an indescribable void in the hearts of all those whom he loved and who loved him.

Funeral services will take place Sunday, October 23rd, Congregation B'nai Jacob, Phoenixville, PA, at 12:30pm. The family will be receiving visitors at The Barn following services, although shiva will not begin until the conclusion of the Sukkot holiday.
