David W. Wambold Jr., age 74, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021 in his residence. Born on May 29, 1947 in Phoenixville, he was the only child of the late Edith A. (Devine) and David W. Wambold Sr.

Dave attended schools in Methacton before graduating from Spring-Ford High School and honorably serving his country in the United States Army. He had been employed for over 20 years by Melchiorre Construction in Malvern and then worked as a mechanic and drove a tow truck for Tony's Auto Glass in Phoenixville.

In his younger years, Dave was an avid fisherman and hunter, and had a passion for bowling. He bowled in leagues at Phoenixville Lanes, where he bowled 9 perfect 300 score games. He was a social member of the West End Fire Co. and the Valley Forge Fire Co. and since Dave was always willing to help others in the community, he had been a volunteer firefighter with Mont Clare Fire Co.

At over three decades, Dave was the longest active member of the Montgomery County Quarter Midget Race Club in Phoenixville. He volunteered in many roles, helping wherever he was needed and handling too many tasks to mention. Dave enjoyed sitting in his car in the track parking lot, keeping a watchful eye, as the "unofficial club security" or dozing off on the snack shack bench, relaxing in the peaceful shade and cool breeze. Dave's signature look was his racing hat and chewed cigar; while always ready to share his extensive knowledge of the club and track. Most importantly, if you ever wanted to find "Tow Truck Dave," as many of the kids lovingly called him, you could find him on a summer's Wednesday evening, between the hours of 7 - 10 pm, perched on the bleachers of MCQMRC between turns 3 and 4, listening to a track radio. He never missed a lap and rooted for every. single. child.

Dave is survived by his daughter: Renee L. Ruddy, of Orlando, FL; granddaughter: Myranda L. Ruddy, of Phoenixville; and great-granddaughter: Carter L. Ruddy.
