Obituary

Dawn M. (Mowrer) Kulp, 78, wife of Harold R. Kulp, of East Coventry, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at her residence. Born in Pottstown and raised in Spring City, she was a daughter of the late B. Franklin and Helen Funk (Francis) Mowrer.


Mrs. Kulp was a 1948 graduate of Spring City High School and also the Chester County School of Nursing where she graduated as a Register Nurse. She was a Deaconess of the Coventry Church of the Brethren where she was active in the Women's Group and served on the Spiritual Nurture Commission.


Dawn was employed as a nurse prior to her marriage, but then became a farm wife and mother, dedicated to her family. She lived and worked on the family farm and was active in the Women's Farm Bureau, the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Auxiliary, and was dedicated to making the farm a success.


In addition to her loving husband of 53 years, Mrs. Kulp is survived by daughters Tina M., wife of Lyle Essick, of Pottstown, and Susan G., wife of Harry S. Ferry, of Villanova, sons Eugene H., husband of Grace Kulp, of New Holland, and Edward A., husband of Kay Kulp, of Pottstown, and grandchildren, Jamie, Jonathan, and Jody Essick, Sarah, Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Daniel Kulp, and Kaitlyn, Kelly, Aaron, Aimee, Hannah, and Mary Kulp. She was preceded in death by brothers, Howard and Blaine Mowrer.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Coventry Church of the Brethren, South Keim and East Cedarville Road, Pottstown, on Friday, February 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Sandford J. Christophel. Interment will follow in the East Coventry Mennonite Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday evening and from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Friday morning at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Dawn's name to the Coventry Church of the Brethren, 946 Keen Road, Pottstown, PA 19465.
