Donald E. Carr, age 93, husband of the late Harriet O. (Olesen) Carr, who preceded him in death on February 20, 2021, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 in his residence at the Spring Mill Senior Living. Born on May 3, 1927 in Phoenixville, PA, he was a son of the late Howard and Helen (Sirgensen) Carr.
Following graduation from the Phoenixville High School, Donald honorably served in the United States Army. He would then go on to graduate from Temple University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. In 1953, Mr. Carr earned his CPA certificate, and began his career in accounting as an associate at the accounting firm of Hoch, Morgan and Company. He would later become a partner at Morgan,Tillger,Carr and Endy.
Donald was a lifelong member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Phoenixville, where he served on church council and as church accountant. He was a charter member of the West Norriton Lions Club, where he served in many leadership functions, as well as the club accountant for 26 years. He received numerous humanitarian awards during this time.
Donald enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their backyard pool and neighborhood gatherings. He enjoyed traveling and doing handyman projects at home. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Mr. Carr is survived by his three children: Jennifer Klein of Waukesha, WI, Diane, wife of Robert Blattner of Phoenixville, PA, and Randall, husband of Karen Carr of Spring City, PA; six grandchildren: Erin Fazzari, Mark, husband of Sarah Blattner, Andrew, husband of Kendra Carr, David Carr, Matthew, husband of Tricia Klein and Patrick Klein; six great-grandchildren: Jacob Fazzari, Evan Fazzari, Katelyn Blattner, Mark Blattner II, Aubrie Klein and Madisen Klein; two nephews: Byron, husband of Bette Wenger and Dale, husband of Virginia Carr; and one niece: Sandi Bittle. In addition to his wife, Mr. Carr was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Sophie Klein, and two siblings: Janet Wenger and Charles Carr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church, 355 Saint Johns Circle, Phoenixville, PA 19460. A visitation will take place on Wednesday from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow in the Columbarium Garden of the Church.
