Obituary

Donald L. DeWalt, 84, of Spring City, PA died on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Verda Ann (Trumbauer) DeWalt who died in 1990.

He was born in Spring City to the late Harold R. and Mary Glenn (Keim) DeWalt and was a 1943 graduate of Spring City High School. Donald served his country in the Army during World War II. He served in the European Theatre and earned two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star.

Upon his return he worked for thirty-nine years in various capacities at Jones Motor until 1982. From 1982-2004 he worked as parts manager and mechanic for William Cohen and Sons until retiring.

Donald was a member of Pughtown Baptist Church where served fifty-five years teaching Sunday School and also served as an Usher, Deacon and Trustee.

He is survived by his sons: Christopher P. DeWalt, of Stowe and James H., husband of Linda, of Boyertown; grandsons: Joshua C. DeWalt and Ian S. DeWalt; sister, Janet Irey widow of William of Spring City; brothers: Richard C. husband of Arlene, of Royersford and Glenn A. husband of Mildred, of Spring City. There are many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a son: Timothy Ladd DeWalt and brothers, Howard M. and Carl E. DeWalt.

His Funeral Service will be held at Pughtown Baptist Church, 780 Pughtown Road, Spring City, PA 19475 on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 10 AM. Officiant will be Rev. Eddie Smith. Calling time is from 9-10 AM. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church memorial fund. Online condolences may be made at www.royersfordfuneralhome.com.
