Obituary

Donald Goodell Hodge, 92, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, after a short illness. Born on May 29, 1933, in Philadelphia, PA, Donald was the ninth of ten children born to Thomas Edward and Naomi Cooper Hodge (nee Crowe).

In 1950, Donald enlisted in the United States Navy just 2 days after his seventeenth birthday, where he saw much of the world aboard the USS Albany (CA-123). His patriotism for his country and love for all things US Navy never wavered. After his service to his country, Donald worked for the B. F. Goodrich company in Oaks, PA, holding numerous positions throughout the plant. After retirement, he had several part time jobs always staying busy and helping where he could.

A lifelong football fan, Donald served as a defensive statistician for Spring-Ford High School for 3 decades. He also enjoyed traveling to many regional high school football games with his close friends and heading to State College to see dozens of regular season Penn State games as well as several bowl games over the years.

Donald's true passion was the pride, dedication, and love he had for his family. Regardless of the circumstance he was always there to support, cheer and help at every opportunity. Whether it was at a sporting or school event, helping to build a new house, paint a room or several, house sit for a traveling family member, or spending time every day with one of his own until their dying day. He was there; he was the rock!

Admittedly, Donald lived a full, productive, and blessed life. Until his recent illness, you could find him and his best friend Dave having coffee at a local establishment, almost every morning.

Donald is survived by sons Terry (Kathy) and Jeff (Joanne), 7 grandkids and 8 great grandkids, as well as several dear friends. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Tammi Lynn, and sons Tim S. and Brian C.
